V. Rev. Fr Alwin Serrao Principal of Padua College offered a Thanksgiving Mass today, Sunday 11th July, on the occasion of his transfer to Naravi. The Mass was con- celebrated by Vicar V. Rev.Fr Vincent, resident priest Rev Fr Walter Serrao, Asst. Parish Priest’s Fr Ashwin, Fr Ronson and Guest Priest, our previous Vicar V. Rev Fr. Antony Shera.
Before the mass the oath taking ceremony was held for the newly elected Gurkars.
After the Holy Mass Fr Vicar thanked Rev. Fr Alwin for his selfless service to the Parish during the past six years by attending to the various needs of the Parish. He toiled hard as the Principal of Padua College, bringing name and fame to the college. On behalf of the Parish and Co Priests he wished Fr. Alwin all success as the Principal of St Antony College Naravi.
The Parish Council Vice President Mr. Stephen Pinto commended the yeoman service rendered by Fr Alwin as Principal and as a fellow Priest in the Parish. He also counselled the needy, especially the youth of the Parish. On behalf of the Parish Council Members, Religious Sisters of various Convents of the Parish and the Parishioners he wished Fr Alwin the very best in his future endeavors.
In reply Fr Alwin thanked the present Vicar, fellow Priests and all the Priests who were with him during the past six years. He thanked the office staff of the Church as well as the staff of the College. He thanked the well-wishers and the benefactors of the college and those who helped his Theatre activities. He urged the Parishioners to be the Guardian Angels in life.
Thereafter a special souvenir ‘Manik Maniyari’ published by Voice of Bendur was released. Mr. Eddie Sequeira the Co Editor of Voice of Bendur, highlighted on the contents of the souvenir brought out to celebrate the 40 years of Priesthood of Rev Fr. Vincent Monteiro, which he completed on April 22, 2021. Fr. Antony Shera unwrapped and released the packed Souvenir copies presented by Mrs. Patsy Britto editor of Voice of Bendur.
Fr Antony Shera congratulated Fr. Vincent on his 40 years of fruitful Service as a Priest and appauladed his work in India and abroad especially for the betterment youth. He also talked about his close association and friendship with Fr. Vincent right from the Seminary days.
Fr Shera said that only through the blessings of the Almighty a Priest survives and continues to serve his flock. He wished Fr.Vincent Good health, Peace, happiness and God’s blessings. He concluded by appreciating the good work done by Fr. Alwin for the betterment of the College, the Church and the Parishioners.
