DINASEVANASABHA

The Congregation of Dinasevanasabha (Servants of the poor) was founded in 1969 at Pattuvam, Kannur District, Kerala by Mother Petra Moennigmann, the Servant of God with the aim of serving the poor and downtrodden in remote villages, irrespective of caste or creed. During the last four decades the congregation has taken its roots in 13 States of India through its 93 branch houses. Around 591 Sisters are fully involved in providing personal care and protection to the neglected and marginalized. All DSS branch houses are situated in the remote villages where the Sisters carry out social development programmes such as rural dispensaries, community health centres, nursery schools, non – formal education programmes, vocational training for school dropout girls and boys.

It is a charitable society which shoulders care of the destitute and children in the orphanages and offer services for the mentally challenged, deaf and dumb, visually impaired. It caters to the needs of the aged and destitutes. It has opened rehabilitation centres for lepers and freed women prisoners, provide educational help for poor village children. It has taken up the challenging task of the care of HIV/AIDS infected children and women.

Their mission is to provide physical, psychological and spiritual support for the under privileged and unsheltered.

They have one convent (Maria Kripa) in Bendur in the Balmatta ward, besides helping in the parish it is catering for study purpose and hostel for girls. At present 4 sisters are working here.
