St Sebastian church Bendur celebrated the feast of Nativity with enthusiasm and devotion on September 8.
Parish Priest of St Sebastian Church V Rev Fr Vincent Monteiro blessed the newly grown paddy which was followed by children offering flowers to Mother Mary as the congregation sang “Moriyek Hogolsiyan”.
Assistant parish priest Rev Fr Ronson Pinto Celebrated the solemn Eucharist together with other priests from Bendur parish.
After the mass the blessed corn was distributed to the parishioners. Sweets, cold drinks and sugar cane was distributed to all who participated in the Celebration.
Parish Family get together was organized in the evening at 6pm in the Parish Hall. The program started with the prayer song sung by children choir group. Vice president Mr. Stephen Pinto welcomed the guest and parishioners. Rev Fr Walter D’ Mello blessed the new corn. Parish priest V Rev Fr Vincent Monteiro mixed the corn with the vorn and distributed to all the gurkars. Later gurkars served the vorn to all parishioners gathered. Secretary Mrs. Mavis Rodrigues proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. Leon Saldanha compered the programme.
CAL and YCS members presented songs, dance and skit. Thereafter a short comedy konkani play ‘Tube light’ written and directed by Claud D’Souza was enacted by parish cultural group. The whole program ended at 8.00pm.
