St. Sebastian Church, Bendur in association with Environment Commission, Youth Commission and Family Commission organized a mega program on Rain water Harvesting – JALABHANDAN 2022 at Bendur Conference Hall on 2nd July 2022. The workshop and awareness program was presided over by, V.Rev.Fr. Vincent Monteiro, Parish Priest of Bendur Church and Vicar Forane of Episcopal Deanery.
Rev.Fr. Ronson Pinto – Asst Parish Priest, Rev.Fr. Vivian Rodrigues – Asst Parish Priest, Mr. Stephen Pinto – Vice President and Mrs. Mavis Rodrigues – Secretary were the Guest of Honour.
Mr. Rajendra Kalbavi – Director Nirmithi Kendra (D. K) was the Chief guest and Resource Person.
Mr. Sujith Noronha – Convener of Environment commission highlighted on the event and welcomed the gathering. Mr. Stephen Pinto offered a floral bouquet to Mr. Rajendra Kalbavi – Resource Person. Lets Embrace Water. We receive lot of rainfall which is not stored or preserved properly. All the water problems can be solved using proper rain water harvesting methods. The main reason for water problems is rapid growth of Urbanization. The main purpose is to give water back to the nature. Water is original and cannot be manufactured. Rain water is very pure. Nature has blessed us with plenty of water. On an average each person uses around 250 to 350 liters of water per day. Average Rainfall is around 3,500 mm.
Use proper rain water harvesting methods. 1st rains, leave the water to the ground. 2nd use suitable filters and leave the rain water to open wells or bore wells. Planting Trees helps a lot to conserve water. Please don’t pollute water logging areas. We need to be water literate. Mr. Rajendra Kalbavi assured the gathering of his assistance in implementing proper rain water harvesting methods.
