Catholic Action league in collaboration with Young Catholic Students Bendur, organised Teachers Day celebration for all the teachers of the parish on 5th September, at St. Sebastian platinum jubilee hall. The formal programme began at 9am with a prayer song led by the CAL and YCS members. CAL President, Mr. Winston Saldanha welcomed the gathering. Maquien Serrao, YCS treasurer articulated his feelings about teachers and their importance in his life.
The chief guest for the program was Prof. Edmund Frank, dean of PGDBM at St. Aloysius college Mangalore. In his address to the teachers and student, he conveyed the message, ‘Teachers not only teach us how to count, but they teach us what counts’.
V. Rev. Fr Vincent Monterio, parish priest and Mr. Stephen Pinto, vice president of Parish council also addressed the gathering. Ms. Amanda Frank, CAL secretary delivered the vote of thanks.
On behalf of all the teachers, Mrs. Mariette D’Souza expressed her gratitude to the members of CAL and YCS for organizing the programme.
Rev. Fr Ronson Pinto, asst director of CAL and Rev. Fr Ashwin Crasta, asst director of YCS were also present.
Mr. Lynal Lewis compered the programme.
Following the formal programme, a short cultural program of song, dance, joke and games was performed by the members of CAL and YCS. All the members enthusiastically participated and entertained the teachers.
Over 40 teachers attended the programme.
